i am a male who is wanting to change my voice to passable female and wanting to know how i an do that

Contrary to popular myth, neither hormones nor surgery will change a male developed voice to sound female..



The ONLY way this can be achieved is speech therapy and LOTS of practice.

Unless you want to risk permanent damage of your Larynx, I suggest manually manipulating your voice. Doing this for an excessive amount of time will actually train your vocal chords to sound how you are using them.



There is a surgical procedure that will constrict chricothyroid tissue, but like I said, major risks involved.
I occasionally see instructional CD's on Ebay with instructions for that exact thing. Keep looking and you will find help with it.

Just kidding. Maybe hormones or something. Good luck. I give alot of credit to anyone who just wants to be who they are and aren't afraid if its different from what is considered the 'norm'

To answer your statement- a voice coach would be the best way. Sure you can always speak in a falsetto pitch, but to sound authentic- leave it to the professionals. The site I've referenced gives you a few tips that you can follow in the meantime.

Practice, practice and then practice some more. Record yourself and play it back as your voice will sound different from what you hear in your head. Surgery is so unreliable that it is a waste of money and hormones do nothing.

Surgery is highly experimental and has a 90% failure rate. Not only can it fail, it can make your voice worse.



Estrogen, as I'm sure you know, has NO effect on the voice.



Their are voice CD's put out by a couple folks (Melanie Phillips, Deep Stealth Productions-Andrea James) that may help.



Some people do hire a voice therapist, but that gets really expensive, really quick.

I'm sorry but i dont agree with the whole transexual thing. No matter what a person does they will never change their gender. Males have an XY chromosome, and you cannot change your chorosomes....
