How Can I Change My Voice Pitch In Audacity?
I'm trying to do that. I selected the Effect tab, but everything's greyed out and I can't click on any of them, including the Change Pitch option. I tried highlighting the audio but that didn't change anything. What am I doing wrong?

I have this old cordless phone made before Radio shack started using Unidens. theres really nothing you can do to change it. the only thing that you CAN do is appreciate what kind of voice you have. and looking at your question, ican't tell how old you are.. but just forget what those losers at school say to your voice. because in real life, i bet you're a pretty cool person.

One of these changes is the deepening of ones voice. It's natural, it's not something all gays escape or that if you ';turned'; gay your voice would be restored to a higher pitch. It doesn't work like that. Some people have more hormones going on than others and some just work harder to make their voices sound higher.

I've been in the chorus for three years and durign that time I learned to sing in the head voice, which has a softer edge %26amp; is usually the opposites of singers sing. and i feel really stupid saying this here, but it seems like I somehow FORGOT how to sing like I used to. you really should go to a teacher for this.
it's possible to do it yourself, but it will take some time, you'll get faster results with guidance. you've just trained your vocal chords to move in this way. it's great when your looking to blend the sound for a choir, but disastorous when you wanna perform alone. choir masters are only interested in the overall sound of the choir, regardless of you individually so it's very easy to pick up bad habbits there
put simply,
the sound you produce depends on how well you can breathe and understanding your registers, and resonance and a whole host of things.
That ';harder edge'; requires you to sing lower notes in your chest register, (put your hand on your chest, when you sing a lower note it should vibrate) then you work on your bridge to bring that harder sound up into the head voice, mixing the two together so your voice becomes one voice,sirening is one of the basic excersises for this (we call this blending or the mix) you'll then be able to work on ';belting';, with correct breathing, posture and resonance. this will allow you to reach those higher notes with power. check this out http://www.goodrichvocal.com/education/v
singing does take time and commitment, and it's complicated, if you wanna go it alone, you have to research and learn it theres plenty of websites for you to do this without spending a dime. my advice, see a professional.

What all you need to do is, just listen to that song more than 5 times, sing it in your mind, try to sing it little loudly, then start with one pitch higher every time. By the day you're performing, you'll be in the zone and singing any song will be just like singing the way you used to in 'chorus'.

It sounds like you want to learn to belt. This is something best handled by a qualified voice teacher.
A very important warning. Learning to belt incorrectly can damage your voice. When you try to broach this subject with a voice teacher you will get one of three reactions.
1) A gung-ho, jump-in-with-both-feet type of approach
2) Refusal to teach belting, either because the teacher doesn't know how, or looks down on it.
3) Cautious, but willing.
If you get either answers 1 or 2, run. You want to look for people who react with number 3. That's your best bet to learn how to belt in a healthy manner.

Well I have had a student with a similar problem, its very important in order to develope your voice as a singer vocalist by extending your range and technique.
By doing this , you can easily find many scales and singing example techniques that are downloadable , these are known are singing exercises.
They teach you how to use your chest voice (good for projection) and using your head voice , this is what you need to concentrate on in order to transder from a low to high voice. As one had said many start low and increase in octaves the more you practise the more your vocal chords will be flexible and comfortable enough to hit those high notes!

Secondly, when you obtain vocal training, ask them about damaging practices to your vocal cords. We do things everyday that damage our vocal cords and we don't even realize it (ie caffeine consumption, smoke, talking loudly while ill, etc.)
Use your head voice but only if you get training. Practice getting up there slowly but consistently every day.
Everyone has a certain range they can do. If you can only sing low then you sing low. If you try to sing high you will damage not just your singing voice but your talking voice.
A low voice is great instead of wishing it away just embrace it. Enhance your range on both ends with training and do songs that are good for your voice not songs that harm your voice.
People always think high is better but the truth is: with more than one singer the most important is the lower. The high voice just sings softly in the back they only need about two of those at total. The low voice they ALWAYS want more! Love your voice its a gift :)

I would like to say that a choir is not just made up of Sopranos and Tenors. Lower vocal parts, though often unrecognised, contribute just as much to a sucessful choir as the parts that sing the melody. As a full fledged Alto II (usually the lowest female vocal part in a choir), I can promise that you arent alone in your wish to have a higher voice. The usually unnoticed harmony parts often are better musicians for having to learn to sing harmony, and in the long run, most of us have come to love singing the lower harmonies.

Speak to your local endocronologist. He might be able to prescribe you horomones of the opposite sex for 1-2 months max. You dont want to stay on them because youll have undesirable effects but a few doses will alter your pitch permanantly. Also speech pathologists and voice training will help.
i'm not sure, but have a look into vocal exercises on the net perhaps. maybe you could do exercises like singers do? but seriously, if your voice is unusually low, i would see a doctor because it could be a sign of something else or they maybe able to help

The important thing to do here is change the pitch of the fundamental tone and not the overall tone or you will sound falsetto.
Biological women usually have not only shorter, but thinner vocal cords as well.
What you need to practice is singing with your vocal cords tight before even trying high. You will be screeching on a part of your vocal cord you haven't used since before puberty before you can even talk on it, let alone sing on it.
Raw vocal cord strength is what is necessary for me due to mood issues that don't allow me to always be in the right mood necessary for ideal passing speech. Cigarettes are another issue that forces me to work harder.
Thankfully, it works for me. I can be animated with strangers and pass as long as my voice is not too tired or my mood issues are not too severe.
It will takes months to build up the strength in that part of your vocal cord.

For a very tiny few, surgical methods can be effective,...but widely it doesn't and the risk to ones voice is not acceptable in the gamble. Best bet is to find a voice coach and practice, practice, practice. It is odd you are post-op and haven't put time into this,...but regardless of what your reasons are working to find a natural sounding voice will go far in finding continued happiness.
Use the net and web to resource and find other training techniques and try them at home, but remember it will take time ti get that sound. Also be aware of things that cause the voice to get injured and avoid over usage,...plenty of water will also help and if you are a smoker quit.

The important thing to do here is change the pitch of the fundamental tone and not the overall tone or you will sound falsetto.
Biological women usually have not only shorter, but thinner vocal cords as well.
What you need to practice is singing with your vocal cords tight before even trying high. You will be screeching on a part of your vocal cord you haven't used since before puberty before you can even talk on it, let alone sing on it.
Raw vocal cord strength is what is necessary for me due to mood issues that don't allow me to always be in the right mood necessary for ideal passing speech. Cigarettes are another issue that forces me to work harder.
Thankfully, it works for me. I can be animated with strangers and pass as long as my voice is not too tired or my mood issues are not too severe.
It will takes months to build up the strength in that part of your vocal cord.

Unfortunately you would not be able to set a different tone for Voice Mail messages.
That's because voice mail tones are the same as SMS Text tones.
To set the tone for SMS
Go to Profiles, scroll down to Advance, hit the Menu key, scroll down to Edit, scroll down to SMS Text, change Out of Holster and/or In Holster Ring Tone to whatever you want. That's It.

Go to Profiles, scroll down to Advance, hit the Menu key, scroll down to Edit, scroll down to SMS Text, change Out of Holster and/or In Holster Ring Tone to whatever you want. That's It.

There's nothing you can do. The timbre and pitch of your voice is determined by the shape and size of your vocal chords, the size of your voice box, and the structure of your face. Without surgery, you can't change any of that. However, these things will change as you get older, and I'm assuming you're pretty young, so just wait it out. There are way more things to worry about than having what you think is a weird voice.

So a high-pitched voice is mainly the result of too much tension in your vocal cords – they are pulled too tight. A high voice is also related to the thickness of your vocal cords, which is something you can’t change. But you can change the tension in your vocal cords, and achieve surprising results. Remember this “guitar” concept, because it can help you figure out how to deepen your voice.
That said, start thinking about ways that you can loosen up those cords. Here are a few suggestions:
1. Sleep – while you rest, your vocal cords relax. This is why your voice is deeper in the morning. Perhaps you might want to record your voicemail answering machine right when you wake up, because your voice will be deeper. On a side note, this is why your voice also sounds deeper when you’re sick. Because bacteria is literally sitting on your vocal chords, weighing them down.
2. Strengthen your neck and breathe from your stomach – this is an important concept to understand too. When your neck muscles are strained, they pull on your vocal cords and make your voice higher. Now, along that same line, remember that breathing from your upper chest also causes tension around your vocal cord region. If you can instead learn to take deep breaths from your diaphragm (the area below your rib cage) while you are talking, you will be able to relax the cords better.
3. Speak more slowly – again, when you’re quickly rushing air across your vocal cords, this creates tension. Slow it down and speak loudly… people will listen.
4. Give the vocal cords a workout – Have you ever noticed that your voice becomes deeper after you’ve been yelling or screaming for a while? (that is, assuming that you don’t lose your voice). That’s because you’ve been stretching them for so long that they actually become more loose once you stop yelling. So perhaps you should sing along loudly to one of your favorite rock songs a few times a week. Please note, do not continue doing this if you consistently lose your voice, because that means you are doing more harm than good.
5. Consume things with heavy chemical compositions – I’m sure you know what happens to your voice when you inhale helium… you sound like a chipmunk. That’s because helium is lighter than air, and when you talk it’s helium that is hitting your vocal cords instead of air. Helium barely even vibrates the vocal cords, which is why you sound so ridiculous after inhaling a balloon. The reverse effect happens when you push heavy air through your vocal cords (for example, if you inhale sulfur hexafluoride… look it up on youtube but do NOT try it at home). So the trick is finding something heavy to sit on your vocal cords. Milk works well, as does coffee. Think about it, and you’ll probably figure out some things that work.
Lastly, I’d just like to say that in the grand scheme of things, you shouldn’t worry too much about deepening your voice if people can’t hear you. Instead, you need to focus on PROJECTING your voice. Practice speaking on the exhale (for example, say your name normally… then take a deep breath and say your name on the exhale. See the difference in projection?). Also, go to loud places like bars and restaurants and practice ordering things – you should be projecting to the point where the server or bartender NEVER has to ask you to repeat yourself.

Keep at it, and when you can mimic them, try a different person. Eventually you will be able to change your voice to a whole bunch of stuff.
i have no idea on how to instruct you but just mess around with focus on how it feels when you speak (in your throat) and just feel those musles or what ever and try tweaking what your doing. thats all i really can saying im not the greatest at it and not nearly as good as i used to be. dont strain yourself though or it will make it harder. i do alot of singing and do metal screams and its really messed up my range of none screaming vocals.

It looks like that has already happened to you, hence why people think that you're an adult if they hear you talking over the phone.
Some women have naturally higher voices, others have lower. As another answerer has said, if you concentrate you will be able to make your voice sound higher, but that will never be a natural thing. I have a reasonably low voice for a woman, and whilst I hated it when I was younger, I've now just accepted it, and that's all you can really do.

My voice started changing like a month ago and im starting to get annoyed cause im a tenor in choir and i cant sing that high without crazy cracks or going to my heap voice. Will it go back up at all when its done and how much longer?

You're going through puberty, obviously. When your voice changes, for males, it deepens alot, and over the next couple of months your voice gets all scratchy and there will be cracks in your sound, since you sing.
If you have a vocal coach, like I did, he/she'll just basically tell you to keep going with your vocal scales, and drink lots of heated/not too hot water/tea, because it'll aid you through this time.
If you just started a month ago, then it'll probably take another couple/maybe 3-7 months, everyone is different. For me, it took three school semesters, and a summer. Tough for me, since I sang too. Relax, at this time, it's hard to sing so just take it easy. If you sang perfectly/nicely when you were younger, you ought to get a nice voice after this change. It may be deeper, but oh well, you get to explore a deeper vocal range. :)

Audacity can change the pitch of a song. Notice I said song. The voice cannot be isolated and the pitch changed.
Even if it could it would sound terrible. The pitch would have to be changed by a full octave to remain in tune. If the track is in the key of A and the pitch was increased by an octave for a male singer the result would be like chipmunk.
If you want to try the pitch change in Audacity click on a blank part of the panel at the left of the track after you've imported it to highlight it then click effects then change pitch.

You can't. Your voice is affected by your vocal cords. They are the size that they are. When you reach puberty (if you haven't already) your voice will shift and probably become deeper, but other than a gradual change as your body gets bigger and your vocal cords mature, that is all you will get for deepness of voice.

Help! Voice Change, Crack (male puberty)?
I am 14, and I will be 15 in May. I have had a handful of voice cracks (maybe like 4), but my voice sounds the same, as it always has.
The few times that it has cracked no one made a comment about it, but I felt really embarrassed.
My question is to those whose voice has already changed, or is changing, and the question is: How did you deal with your changing voice?
I know that it is natural and it happens to everyone, but I'm worried about comments people will make, or things they think.
My parents for example are very awkward when it comes to things like this, and the things that they say make me really embarrassed. (They have never heard it crack, they just make comments sometimes).

I think that I am over the puberty age and for the most part, my voice is not deep at all. Its only deep after I wake up but a few minutes later, it gets back to ';normal';.....why cant my voice stay deep like that?

your vocal chords are like an instrument. As they tighten they get higher, and as they relax they get deeper. In the morning they are deeper because you and them are relaxed. You may be a high strung person and that causes your vocal chords to tighten up and causing your voice to raise up. Doing relaxation techniques will help you with your overall stress levels and your voice. maybe you should consider talking a little less which would also help your voice rest more.

You could just talk deeper by using your vocal cords, but you may revert back to your 'normal' voice after a while if it's just natural.Why does my voice change instead of staying the same?
your vocal chords are like an instrument. As they tighten they get higher, and as they relax they get deeper. In the morning they are deeper because you and them are relaxed. You may be a high strung person and that causes your vocal chords to tighten up and causing your voice to raise up. Doing relaxation techniques will help you with your overall stress levels and your voice. maybe you should consider talking a little less which would also help your voice rest more.

As I continue puberty, will my singing voice change too?
I love to sing, but I don't know how I can practice because right now I can't take it in school. Are there alternatives to sing in my community perhaps? It'll probably get deeper, but your voice will also mature at the same time, hitting notes you probably couldn't before if you keep practicing and singing... =)

it probaly will change but dont worry about it if you work hard enough u can train ur singing voice to be the way u actually want it 2 u just gotta pratice!for a guy to get a pedicure single beds

Voice Change, Crack (male puberty)?
I am 14, and I will be 15 in May. I have had a handful of voice cracks, but my voice sounds the same, as it always has.
The few times that it has cracked no one made a comment about it, but I felt really embarrassed.
My question is to those whose voice has already changed, or is changing, and the question is: How did you deal with your changing voice?
I know that it is natural and it happens to everyone, but I'm worried about comments people will make, or things they think.
My parents for example are very awkward when it comes to things like this, and the things that they say make me really embarrassed.

Why be embarrassed. Have you been taught to be that way? Nobody is talking about you. You are perfectly natural. In all probability your voice is already cracked, no sooner do you hear such effects than they are gone. They are gone for you? Your voice has cracked. Do you feel any different? Nope.
Your parents sound as if they are turkeys, though. Why don't yousay at the dinner table tonight:';Well, am I going to get the benefit of a sex education here or do you prefer me to find out everything from the gutter?';

I just accepted the fact that it happens normally. and thats really all you can do.

Why does my voice change from day to day?
I have a deep voice which I hate and can barely talk straight. Some days my voice would sound worse than others, it varies from day-to-day. How come?

Using a Fake Voice since the start of your work search and even after hired, is it ok?
By fake voice i mean for example making a fake accent like Apu in the simpsons. So you put on that accent when you interview for a job, then you keep the accent even if you're hired. OR you change voices frequently.
I'm asking this because in my real life that's how it works with me, i keep changing voices partly because i speak spanish with family then i speak to cousin or sister in English ALL in the same house. So it's constantly changing my accent. Therefore it's something i'm used to now. Plus i like to make voices like a fake indian accent like Apu of the simpsons. and other times i put on a thick mexican accent when speaking English.
Thing is, my accents are not for the sake of making me sound funny, i just do it cause its fun and gives me confidence. So is this bad to do if you find a Job( office job). you shouldn't do apu's voice when you're on the phone. I can never understand when people have that accent it drives me crazy! I'm always like what? what? what?! Anyway, your employer might think you're putting on a show and might not think it's very funny. But if you can get away with it, go for it...sounds like fun.
