How can I change the resonance of my voice to sound female?

I am a post-op transsexual woman. I am trying to change my voice to sound female. Pitch alone does not work. I need to change the resonance too. Can anyone explain how this is done? How can I change the resonance of my voice to sound female?
The important thing to do here is change the pitch of the fundamental tone and not the overall tone or you will sound falsetto.

Biological women usually have not only shorter, but thinner vocal cords as well.

What you need to practice is singing with your vocal cords tight before even trying high. You will be screeching on a part of your vocal cord you haven't used since before puberty before you can even talk on it, let alone sing on it.

Raw vocal cord strength is what is necessary for me due to mood issues that don't allow me to always be in the right mood necessary for ideal passing speech. Cigarettes are another issue that forces me to work harder.

Thankfully, it works for me. I can be animated with strangers and pass as long as my voice is not too tired or my mood issues are not too severe.

It will takes months to build up the strength in that part of your vocal cord.

I recommend singing to songs you grew up with. That is how a lot of women learn much of their verbal social expression as well.

Top female singers have the best ';selling'; voice of any women and not neccesarily the best vocal mechanics or skills. Selling your verbal expression is what is important here.

This takes care of inflection, innotation and everything else that professional gender speech therpists and advice websites mention because these singers have the best ';selling'; of these traits as well.

Limewire.com can help with finding songs.

Try and be tight as well as high. The tightness compensates for resonance the way raising your pitch does for a lower tone.

Try and match the singer of the song you are practicing with. It will take a few tries before you are not embarrassed with yourself alone.

Focus on matching one aspect at a time with the song. Don't expect a near pefect karoke imitation for awhile.

Don't worry about your voice sounding awful, especially at first. You are building vocal cord strength.

I deliberately press my voice to my current limit to slightly beyond and work on weak areas of my voice even if I can sing a song quite well if I were to press a little less. It is part of vocal cord strength and conditioning for me.How can I change the resonance of my voice to sound female?
The correct answer is backwards. You want to raise the entire tone, not just the fundamental (F0). You have to raise F1-F5 for it to sound right. In fact F1-F5 are more important than F0. So speak with a raised larynx to shortent the vocal tract and keep the sound forward in the mouth.

Hormones have nothing to with the voice. Once the voice is exposed to testosterone, it is irreversibly damaged. You can overcome this some by speaking 5 notes higher, raising the larynx while speaking, speaking a tad more out of the nose, and keeping the voice forward in the mouth.

One would think the massive doses of hormones would take care of that. They don't?
Maybe you should take voice lessons from a singing teacher?
Do a singing voice...
try to speak just from the throat, no nose, or chest etc

a four minute voice lesson (and meditation on the frustrations of voice lessons) from Kate Bornstien herself
If you have the money, you can hire a trainer.

Any city has a tranny boutique where there are others who know things. Go. Make friends, by asking for what you need.

When you find what you want to be like, (maybe the voice of a tv actress) buy the whole series and play it CONSTANTLY, till every inflection of how she pronounces and lilts the words is stuck in your head like music.

You need to be like a parrot - to be able to mimic what you hear (I'm trying not to say ';impersonator';, I do understand)

so !)get the sound you want to imitate in there, by hearing it constantly

2)sit by yourself for 3 hours a day reading a book aloud, in that voice, till you got it!

most of success at anything is simply practicing it enough

and be exposed to it enough

it's important you have somewhere to do this reading and practicing where you wont be self-conscious or feel worried about being overheard.

You should feel free to let out a shreik, a laugh a giggle, without restraint (you need to practice that stuff - and WITH the body language (mirrors, full length, TWO)

another thing you can do is (if youre lucky and can) to hang out with other (born as)girls, and just join in all the uninhibited shreiking and giggling and omg'ing they do with them!

It's special, and you'll love it, and if you can arrange this, it'll rub off on you!

um, also pay attention to the way women PRONOUNCE words===%26gt;it is NOT just a matter of pitch (its all those words that seem to end with ';-in'; (like how we say womIN(not womEN like a man would say..

I'd suggest--%26gt;LISTEN and learn (make notes, a list if have to, and practice each thing you find, and become a character)

You really need to do a lot of constant listening and imitating, and practicing. PICK a role model to imitate. Make some friends, tranny AND bio - and you'll get there!

(enjoy getting to be yourself, sister! You made it! :) )
Practice, practice, and then practice some more. You could get coaching, or use one of the many programs available. You can check www.tsroadmap.com

For everyone else, once testosterone has completed its damage there is no amount of estrogen that will change a voice.
This one is amazing!

Through practice you need to move your voice from your chest (where male resonance comes from) to your head. It involves learning to use your voals cords (pitch) and throat muscles in a whole new way. Other variables are breath control, inflection, word choice and emoting.

Some people can do this on their own. Some require the help of voice training CD's like those offered by Deep Stealth Productions (Andrea James) or Melanie Phillips. Some people do on-line voice chat (Yahoo group for that). Some people need to hire a voice therapist, preferably someone experienced with TS people. And some people use some combination of the above.

Here's another recent question on voice:

Hope this helps
Sadly, it is a fact that female hormones will not change the pitch of any M-F transsexual. And other options are explored and employed in many different degrees of of success. For a very tiny few, surgical methods can be effective,...but widely it doesn't and the risk to ones voice is not acceptable in the gamble. Best bet is to find a voice coach and practice, practice, practice. It is odd you are post-op and haven't put time into this,...but regardless of what your reasons are working to find a natural sounding voice will go far in finding continued happiness.

Use the net and web to resource and find other training techniques and try them at home, but remember it will take time ti get that sound. Also be aware of things that cause the voice to get injured and avoid over usage,...plenty of water will also help and if you are a smoker quit.

Best of luck in finding that voice and making it sound well :o)
change your inflections in speech and it will go further than messing with pitch and resonence . girls voices have a sing song efect to them use the scale up and down while talking , girsl ask questions boys make statements . example '; i am sam ! opposed to ';i am sam ?
im sorry but i dont really know but good luck!! kuddos!
Raisin estrogen levels and reducing testosterone levels is the most successful method.
Get Adam apple reduction surgery. Then powder your big ole deep pipes with flour. Thats what the big bad wolf did when he fooled Red Riding Hood.
